The Great Pumpkin Challenge
At Charlotte Latin, the Great Pumpkin Challenge doesn’t involve sitting in an especially sincere pumpkin patch all night. It’s an annual contest where third, fourth and fifth graders decorate pumpkins as characters from their favorite books, ranging from The Cat in the Hat to The Hunger Games. This year had a record-breaking number of entries — and an overall winner based on an author who visited Latin last year, Christina Soontornvat, and her book All Thirteen: The Incredible Cave Rescue of the Thai Boys' Soccer Team.
